The exterior is made up of 45,133 aluminum panels of varying sizes, patterns, and curves, and NOT A SINGLE ONE of these panels is the same. It’s kind of crazy-making and awe-inspiring when you really think about what this means. This hall is easiest found when you’re down on the B1 floor of the structure.

The Government of Seoul is making efforts to merge its design industry into the city’s leading industries and support their technological development. Investigating the building's twists and turns, Andres Gallardo has photographed the structure's fluid compositions. Although his photographs display little human presence, the building itself expresses the activity that occurs throughout day and night. Beneath the walkable park on the roof, Dongdaemun Design Plaza includes large global exhibition spaces, a design museum, 24-hour retail stores and a media center, among many other facilities that intertwine across the levels. The DDP is an architectural landscape that revolves around the ancient city wall and cultural artefacts discovered during archaeological excavations preceding DDP's construction. These historic features form the central element of DDP's composition; linking the park, plaza and city together. The DDP is divided into several parts, such as market place, Dongdaemun history and culture park.

There’s no other building in Korea (or maybe the world) quite like it, so you should spend some time wandering around and exploring all its unique nooks and crannies. This is a hop-on hop-off bus which gives you access to all the best highlights and attractions of Seoul, while also saving you money on public transport / taxi costs. Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station is a stop on 3 separate subway lines. On the first floor’s waiting area, Korean studio xsxl integrates a large arch entrance and a promotional space with a vast planetary chandelier hanging over the high ceiling. In the reception area, visitors are welcomed to ‘check-in’ to the Pink Space Hotel, enveloped in the brand’s primary hues enlivened by futuristic elements. The studio weaves novel references to a spacecraft across the interior, with each floor’s program envisioned as a futuristic hotel — as the luxury destination of an intergalactic journey. Bold hues of pink extend from the facade within, contrasted with chromatic finishes, kinetic plants, and metallic Art Deco features.

The city of Seoul established an excavation and investigation team for a safe and detailed survey in the area. In June 2009, the city decided to preserve and exhibit the excavated remains and announced the construction of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, which would serve as a venue for the exhibition of historical remains.
